A Mission from God
On December 27, 2015 CityReach Church Moon left for Miami, Florida with the “Go Team”; a mobile outreach consisting of twenty-one people in two passenger vans, one cargo van loaded with outreach equipment and camping gear, and lots of faith. The team represented eight different churches; CityReach Church Moon, CityReach Church Pittsburgh, CityReach Church New Kensington, CityReach Church Beaver Falls, Allison Park Church, West Ridge Church, Christ Episcopal Church, and upon arrival, CityReach Church Miami. The group included a full worship team, a rap artist, puppeteers, cooks, face painters, and street evangelists. Two days were spent at Amelia Earhart Park ministering to the residents of Little Havana, one day was spent evangelizing door to door with church service invitations, and on the team’s last day they celebrated with water baptisms in the Atlantic Ocean.
Prior to the trip, God told Pastor Sean Busa, lead pastor of CityReach Church Moon, “I have assembled a team of specialists to ransack the gates of hell and take back what the enemy has stolen.”
Preparations
The Busa’s partnered with Pastor Fernando DeCarvalho, Director of Global Missions, to develop the strategy behind this “local, cross-cultural mission”. CityReach Global Missions is the “global arm” of CityReach Network and provides opportunities for churches to fulfill the Great Commission while supporting worldwide outreach.
The “Go Team” met multiple times to prepare and develop the plans prior to the trip. Pastor Sean’s wife Rebecca said that “God is the one who assembled this incredible team.”
Serving the Community in Little Havana
They served over 600 meals and ministered to hundreds of individuals through skits, music, and testimonies. The street teams prayed for nearly 50 families and everyone within a half mile heard the cranked up sound system. The group pushed back the darkness and saw chains broken by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimonies! (Revelation 12:11)
Pastor Ismael Whittaker, lead pastor of CityReach Church Miami, mentioned that many people in their church testified out loud for the first time during the outreach. He told the Busa’s that his church had never done anything like this event before. Juan Whittaker, Pastor Ismael’s son, also reached out to the Busa’s, excited to inform them that their church had newcomers at service the following Sunday.
An Unforgettable Story
One miraculous testimony is of a man named Carlos. Carlos was drunk when he arrived at Amelia Earhart Park. He approached the pavilion for the free food and mentioned that he liked the worship songs. He stayed all day, drawn to the love that was being shown to him. At the end of the first day, Pastor Sean approached Carlos and asked if there was anything impossible in his life that he could pray for. Carlos’s reply was simple, “I have some sort of issue that causes the skin on my arms, hands, legs, and feet to have boils, scabs, and flakes.” He showed Pastor Sean the areas. Pastor Sean prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to show His great love to Carlos. He asked Carlos to come back if he felt different. The next day Carlos did come back. The boils were gone and his skin looked pink, like new skin! Carlos admitted that he had been frightened when he received the prayer, but confessed that, because of the results, it must have been God. Praise the Lord!
What’s Next
The team has a vision for missions both locally and internationally. They are currently planning their August trip to visit Pastor Stephanie Borsato in Nova Scotia, Canada. In September of 2016, Pastor Stephanie is launching the first CityReach church in Canada.

Matthew 28: 18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of ALL nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
