Reaching the Ones Across the World

Our friends at Mission SOS are celebrating 20 years of ministry this year! We are so grateful for their partnership and for all the ways God is using them all over the world to bring His kingdom! Read on to learn more about Mission SOS.


Austrian-born, Johannes grew up in Sweden and became a Christian at 17. He began preaching almost immediately. Soon he fell in love and married Maria. The Amritzers began Mission SOS in 1996 out of their passion to reach the lost all over the world. To date, Mission SOS has held over 70 festivals around the world and planted over 600 churches internationally! The Amritzers spend their time mentoring the pastoral team at SOS International and traveling around the world to spread the gospel to unreached people groups.

Mission SOS organized there first Signs & Wonders Festival in 1996, where over 3,000 people attended. Today, as many as 100,000 attend the festivals in each city. Currently, Mission SOS is in the middle of their Capital City Tour and are traveling to each capital city in the continent of Africa. This summer, they will hosting festivals in Kampala, Uganda and Bujumbura, Burundi.

Johannes and Maria also lead SOS Stockholm in Sweden, which is the base of operations for over 600 church plants and 6 Bible schools all over the world.

In early 2015, CITYREACH NETWORK formalized a branch of their ministry, CityReach Global Missions, after a long friendship with Mission SOS and Johannes. CityReach Global Missions exsists to engage churches and connect them to the mission field, specifically lost people groups around the world. CityReach Global Missions will be joining Mission SOS on a trip to Uganda in June. The 240 team members will participate in outreaches in the community and help run the festivals.
