I Hear the Sound of Heavy Rain

James 5:16-18 16 The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. 17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

Easter Sunday is very much like Mt. Carmel for the church. Remember the story of Elijah? When light triumphed over darkness. When God answered by fire and many turned to the Lord.

After the victory of Mt. Carmel Elijah went down in the valley with the people of God. While everyone was celebrating the victories and taking a deep breath from the activities of the weekend, Elijah was locked into a Higher Purpose. It was down in the valley after what had to be the thrill of victory and relief that the battle was over that Elijah heard something…

Returning to the mountain he used the testimony of victory to fuel his FAITH for a greater BREAKTHROUGH!

From that place of remembering what the Lord had already done, he re-engaged the Lord in powerful, persistent, faith-filled prayer UNTIL a famine was stopped and a NATION was saved.

I am thankful for how the Lord touched my family and church this past Resurrection Sunday. I trust your heart was strengthened by His resurrection power as well. CAN WE USE THE FAITH OF THIS RESURRECTION SEASON TO CRY OUT TO GOD FOR MORE?

From April 16th-May 25th we are asking that you would join us for 40 Days of Prayer.

Eight years ago, while we were just three churches and four Hope Homes, our small CityReach family banded together for 40 days of prayer.

We cried out to God for His presence and power. We cried out for our churches and homes. We cried out for our cities and for the lost.

But it’s not just that we cried out that matters. IT’S THAT GOD HEARD OUR CRY!

In the following months and well into the next year, a mighty working of the Holy Spirit began to happen. It was out of that time that a movement began to take form in our midst. Churches were planted, lives were changed, destinies were altered. All because God’s people turned to Him in prayer.

What will these upcoming 40 Days of Prayer look like?

  • We are asking everyone to go to the Lord three times a day in personal prayer.
  • We will share some targeted prayer points to keep us unified in prayer and intercession.
  • Some may choose to fast in some way during this time.
  • Sharing of testimonies and answered prayer to encourage each other in the journey.

From coast-to-coast and from sea to shining sea, we’re crying out for the greatest breakthrough we’ve ever seen.
