WHAT IS COHORT TRAINING?
After the assessment process, church planters join a cohort learning group. Together, planters grow and learn how to successfully plant and sustain a life-giving church.
At the beginning of the church planting process, each planter joins a learning cohort. The cohort model thrives because of CITYREACH NETWORK’s unique specialty in “cluster church planting.” Multiple new churches launch on the same day in different cities. Together, planters walk through the pre-launch timeline and are able to collaborate, share ideas, and learn from each other’s experiences.

Various online and in-person gatherings provide planters with valuable teachings from CITYREACH NETWORK leaders and partners. Speakers cover topics that enable our new pastors to successfully plant and develop a life-giving church. Planters benefit from community and the support of each other. Through this collaboration, planters are introduced to the culture of CityReach while learning best practices in relation to church planting.
In addition to the cohort calls, church planters work with a CityReach coach. Seasoned pastors walk alongside planters as coaches throughout the church planting process to assist with day-to-day logistics, leadership, and strategic planning.
CITYREACH NETWORK’s church planting department gives each pastor in the cohort access to a web-based project management and collaboration tool. This process simplifies communication and task management for both planters and the Network’s church planting department.
During the months of preparation for Launch Day, church planters can also access the trainings and resources available to all CityReach pastors.
